Sofwave (SUPERB)
A skin tightening, wrinkle-reducing,
and rejuvenation treatment that minimizes the risk of hollowing
in the cheeks through our proprietary
SUPEPB™ technology (Synchronous Parallel Ultrasound Beam).
This is a state-of-the-art ultrasound treatment device approved
by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan.
Recommended for those who
- Concerned about sagging on the face or neck
- Want to improve skin elasticity and fine lines
- Want to brighten dull skin and restore firmness
- Looking for a lifting treatment that avoids hollowing of the cheeks
- Searching for a non-invasive, downtime-free lifting treatment
Sofwave Highlights
Sofwave is an ultrasound treatment device that utilizes our proprietary SUPERB™ technology to improve sagging, fine lines, and overall skin quality.
With over 2,000 units installed worldwide (*as of May 2025), it is the first ultrasound device for aesthetic use in Japan to receive regulatory approval, demonstrating not only its effectiveness but also its recognized safety.
1Proprietary Heating Mechanism: SUPERB™ Technology
Using Sofwave’s proprietary SUPERB™ technology, high-intensity ultrasound energy is delivered in cylindrical beams rather than focused points.
This allows the dermis to be heated to an impressive 60°C–70°C while protecting the surface of the skin.
As a result, fibroblasts are activated, promoting contraction and remodeling of collagen and elastin.

2Minimizes the Risk of Hollowing in the Cheeks
Sofwave’s thermal energy is designed to act exclusively on the dermis, without affecting the deeper subcutaneous fat layer or the SMAS fascia.
This allows for tightening treatments even in areas with minimal fat, eliminating the concern of hollowing in the cheeks often associated with traditional lifting procedures.
3Safety and Pain Management
While high efficacy treatments often raise concerns about pain during the procedure, Sofwave is equipped with a contact cooling feature called Sofcool™.
By strongly cooling the skin’s surface during treatment, it protects the epidermis from the risk of burns and reduces discomfort.
Additionally, because the epidermis is not damaged, downtime after the procedure is minimal, allowing you to quickly return to your daily activities.

Sofwave Treatment Procedure
-
1Consultation and Skin Assessment
The treatment begins with a thorough consultation to understand your concerns and goals.
The physician will evaluate the degree of sagging and your skin condition, and propose the most suitable treatment plan. -
2Makeup Removal and Treatment Area Preparation
Before the procedure, all makeup and impurities are carefully removed.
Keeping the treatment area clean ensures that the ultrasound energy accurately reaches the deeper layers of the skin for maximum effectiveness.
If desired, a topical anesthetic cream may be applied prior to treatment. -
3Sofwave Treatment
The ultrasound is applied while carefully monitoring for comfort and minimizing pain or heat sensations.
-
4Post-Treatment Care and Precautions
Normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment.
However, activities that increase metabolism or blood flow may exacerbate redness or swelling, so avoid such activities for 2–3 days.
Additionally, because the skin may be more prone to dryness and sun sensitivity due to the ultrasound heat, thorough moisturizing and sun protection are recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sofwave
- Can I feel the effects after just one treatment?
-
Yes. You may notice results immediately after the procedure.
Collagen regeneration occurs over 2–3 months, with the peak effect typically around six months (individual results may vary).
- Is it better to have multiple treatments?
- You can see results with just one session, but if you wish to maintain the lifting effect, we recommend continuing treatments approximately once every six months (individual results may vary).
- Are there people who cannot receive Sofwave?
- Generally, Sofwave is suitable for all ages, genders, skin tones, and skin types. Please note that some patients may not be eligible based on medical consultation. For more details, please refer to the contraindications listed in the precautions section above.
- I’m concerned about pain during the procedure.
- Some areas may feel mild discomfort during the treatment, but we use topical anesthetic cream, so it is not an intensely painful procedure (individual tolerance may vary).
- What is the difference between Sofwave and Ulthera?
-
Both Sofwave and Ulthera are ultrasound-based lifting treatments, but they use different technologies: Sofwave uses SUPERB™, while Ulthera uses HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound).
They also target different layers of the skin.
For surface sagging and skin texture improvement: Sofwave is recommended.
For effects on the deeper foundation of the skin, including the SMAS and fat layers: Ulthera is recommended.
Your physician will guide you on the most suitable treatment based on your concerns.
- Which is more effective, Sofwave or Thermage?
-
Sofwave uses SUPERB™ ultrasound, while Thermage uses radiofrequency (monopolar RF) for lifting treatments. The type of energy differs, so each has its own advantages and limitations.
Both target the dermis, but Sofwave provides more focused action in the dermal layer.
Sofwave primarily improves surface sagging and skin texture.
Thermage mainly targets the fat layer, making it more effective for volumizing and tightening.
Your physician will recommend the best option based on your concerns.
